Visit us on Community Day for free admission to the museum.
Visit us on the first Sunday of each month for free museum admission from 10 am to 5 pm. Take this opportunity to explore our collection and current exhibitions. Free Community Days also occur every second Wednesday of the month.
The day includes an Open Studio, Gallery Talk, Collection Highlights Tour, and more.
Open Studio: Join NMWA educators in the museum’s Open Studio from 10 am to 4 pm for free, self-directed drop-in art-making activities inspired by artworks on view. Activities and inspirations change each month. Visitors of all ages are invited to participate. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Gallery Talk: Facilitated by museum staff members, these 30-minute, conversational, thematic talks highlight two to three works on view. Take a deeper look, learn about the artists’ inspirations, and discuss what you see, all on your lunch break. Meet at the Information Desk at 12 pm.
Collection Highlights Tour: Explore the museum’s collection during these engaging 45-minute drop-in tours at 2 pm. These guided experiences feature six to eight works on view, highlighting the creative contributions of artists from the 16th century to today. Meet at the Information Desk.
Library and Research Center: Browse the reading room, which holds an extensive collection of books. Whether you’re an avid researcher, a student, or simply curious, our welcoming space offers a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.
